Orvis Safe Passage Sling Packs

“Fishing is not about the fish, it is the lure to the outdoors.”

We have spent years outdoors fishing with just about anything you can imagine, tackle boxes, vests, backpacks, fanny packs, you name it. But the best thing we have ever used to act as a carrying case for our gear, is the Orvis Sling Pack. For Fly Fishing, it is reliable and easy to use.

HERE is an awesome review that takes you through the components of the pack.

James and I like the pack for a couple of reasons:

  1. Zinger Worthy! We can attach a bunch of zingers and tools to our packs, like the clippers, pliers, and a knot tying tool.
  2. Fits a nice tall drink. You don’t always think about it, but it is nice to be able to get a drink quickly and easily. They have a no-slip tag that you can easily slip onto your bottle so that it never falls out.
  3. The pockets are BIG and roomy! I am able to fit many different fly boxes, tippet, leaders, phone, keys, wallet, and just about anything inside my pack. They have several different compartments within the bag so you can easily organize everything.
  4. It is water resistant and so you can get it wet. I still put all my electronics, keys, and wallet in a waterproof sealed bag to keep it from getting any water (just a precaution).
  5. It slides easily to the front when you need it, but there is also a clip feature that keeps the bag in place.
  6. I like the fact that my arms are free at all times. When it is time to change out a fly, I have everything at my fingertips and its easy to access it all too.
  7. I can clip my net to the backpack so I can just reach behind me if I need the net quickly and easily.
